Small Grants

Lewisham Council offers several microgrant programmes. These run annually for Tamil Heritage Month, Lunar New Year, LGBTQ+ History Month, International Women's Day, Windrush Day, Refugee Week, East and Southeast Asian Heritage Month, and Black History Month.

Small Grant Funds Open Now

East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) Heritage Month 2025 – Small Grants between £250–£2,000

Applications are open until 11:59pm, Sunday 3 August 2025.

This year’s theme is “Reframing Resilience”, exploring the strength and interconnectedness of ESEA communities.
Funding is available for community projects and events taking place during September 2025 which could include community gatherings/ meals, intergenerational events, storytelling, workshops, exhibitions, cultural activities, performances, podcasts, and more. 

Applicants must demonstrate lived experience of being part of, or working closely with, East and Southeast Asian communities and activities must celebrate, explore or raise awareness of ESEA heritage, identity or community experience. Members of ESEA communities must be involved in the planning and/or delivery of the project. Your project could link to the theme of 'Reframing Resilience', but this is not a requirement of the grant.

Black History Month 2025 – Small Grants up to £1,000


Applications close 11:59pm, Sunday 17 August 2025.

This year’s theme is Standing Firm in Power and Pride”, celebrating the strength and progress of the Black community.
Funding is available for community projects/events taking place during the month of October 2025, which could include community gatherings/ meals, intergenerational events, storytelling, workshops, exhibitions, cultural activities, performances, podcasts, and more. 

This grant funding is open to voluntary and community sector organisations, schools and community interest companies (CIC).
